In the heart of downtown Middleton Longtable is a neat place to grab a bite to eat. It is casual place with great friendly service. They have a huge beer selection available in cans, bottles, and on tap. I had a pear cider on tap and it was delicious. The bartender will let you sample the taps before you purchase. I grabbed a bite to eat. I had a vegetarian sandwich with a side of coleslaw. Food was freshly made and very good. Good place to sit relax on the outdoor patio.
Unlike any other bar or restaurant in Madison. Truly a hidden gem in Middleton. The atmosphere is lively and beautiful with a hipster vibe to it. The food is excellent and the beer list is as good as you'll find in Madison.
Just what Middleton needed! Whether you are familiar with town or not, Long Table is a great casual yet refined addition to the neighborhood. From hosting a happy hour to dropping by after a long hike, its a comfortable place to be. Community style tables, big range on beers appeals to most people. As the wine lover, I am not as thrilled, but manage to find something to drink. Food is basic and pretty good for bar-food (tho no Michelin stars anytime soon). However they do have some surprisingly good salads like smoked trout and spinach, despite being drowned in dressing, is a pretty nice choice. Lovely indoor-outdoor feel with one corner opening to the outside. Perfect for long summer evenings!
The fish board is a lovely choice which we enjoyed. We both had ice tea which is mostly ice and weak tea served in a small glass. We asked for a refill and was told if you want a refill you will have to pay for it. At $2.85 a glass it was hardly a bargain. The server refilled my glass and gave me a bill. I left the money and a tip on the table. As we were leaving she called my name and asked where is the money for the tea refill. Pretty cheesy for a $50.00 lunch. Disappointing ending to a nice lunch
Goat cheese salad with beets is my go-to dish. Very yummy, but I've yet to see basil put in it as they have it listed and the arugula is more stem than leaf which makes it hard to eat and messy. Please cut the stems! Wings are spicy and good. Beer cheese soup was a miss. Grainy and the flavor just didn't hit home. Could possibly use more of a cheese taste.It's pricey, but good atmosphere, good beer and overall pretty good food.Update: their goat cheese bites are delicious!
